Jack White and Third Man Records at SXSW

Ok, this is what comes out of the Third Man Rolling Records Store when it stops:

It's Jack White with a couple of iconic performances - Not Fade Away followed by Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground followed by Seasick Steve bringing it all back home, or at least back to SXSW which is sort of home.

And dig all the young people texting their appreciation in the front row! What bands may need is an Applause App so at the end of each song the performer knows we're not all talking about Shah-Lin-Da and how she's like totally into that weird dude, but actually keeping half an eye on the band.

Hi Sis

Saw SeaSickSteve in Newcastle upon Tyne about 2 years ago he is a character !!! and one of the few singers who spent time down in the audience just glad handing. Hve got all his albums, but unfortunately his later ones don't have the infectious drive of Dog House Music

I've heard about him so much, but not listened to him that much. So Dog House Music is what I should look for?

Hi Sis

"Dog House Music" and "I started out with nothing" are the only decent ones in the 5 albums I have got. I assume after his appearance that Jack is doing a "Wanda" with him to re-invent him.

More to the point, Ben one of our clerks was at SXSW and spent 20 minutes talking to the mighty JW !!!!!!!!!! He arrived back yesterday, but I have been in London for a couple of days, so I will let you have any gossip early next week.

Hi Sis

Now Ben is home the story isn't as exciting as we thought. It appears he was staying at the same Hotel, the Four Seasons, as JW and Alison Mosshart. He bumped into JW in the bar, said "Hi" but didn't feel like invading his space, but he said JW was a bit wobberly"!!!!!

He says Alison was outside most of the time crying her eyes out, didn't know why.

He also got into a private gig with the Kills, only 150 people there, said it was brilliant.

I hope this paragon of British gentlemanliness asked Alison if there was anything he could do to help.

Was the Kills gig the day after or the day before (i.e. was she okay the next day?) I'd heard that private showing was good. I didn't hear it but I believe it was streamed on the radio.

The SXSW people seem to be getting a bit pissed at all the private showings that are taking away (in their eyes) from the spectacle they've actually put on, but the more the merrier as far as I'm concerned.

Jack is famously wobbly on occasion, so I'm not surprised to hear this. At least he wasn't on stage cursing at the time.

Hi Sis

Nah he didn't give Alison a shoulder to cry on, again he felt he would be intruding. And yes Alison was back to her best for the gig.
